Despite the fact that it is just a legend or reality, marine creatures have threatened lives of many people around the world. As to be known that sea monsters are mythical or legendary creatures living in the depths seas, oceans, appearing with immense sizes. There are some sea creatures such as whales and some types of giant and colossal squid also exaggerated with the term “monster”. Sea monsters exist in many forms, including sea dragons, sea serpents, or multi-armed beasts. Below is the list of the scariest sea monsters ever around the world.


In August 1848, when the HMS Daedalus, a member of the Royal Navy\’s fleet saw a sea serpent was sailing to St. Helena in the South Atlantic. It raised a debate between the captain of a ship, Captain McQuhae, and some members of his crew. According to the ship\’s captain, Captain McQuhae, there was a sea beast approximately 60 feet in length passing by their ship with 4 feet of its head ascending over the water surface. The image of the sea beast kept in the mind of the crew for 20 minutes. Until now, this phenomenon has still been a mystery.

Moore\’s Beach Monster is described as stinky, with elephant-like legs, a whale-like tale and a duck-like head. In 1925, two miles north of Santa Cruz, California, a creature stayed ashore named “Moore\’s Beach Monster” after Charles Moore found him. After that, Moore\’s Beach Monster was taken to the Natural History Society of British Columbia for examination. According to the short length of its tail, the creature was said to be a kind of plesiosaur surviving in melt ice.

Chessie, the Chesapeake Bay Sea Serpent was fist discovered in 1936 when the crew of a military helicopter flew over the Bush River saw an unknown reptilian beast under seawater. Chessie\’s images captured by cameras gave the real evidence for its existence. The sea creature was described as an anaconda or a python, serpentine, snakelike and dark in color with the length of 30 feet and the thickness as a telephone pole. It is said that there are more than one currently living in the Chesapeake Bay.

The serpent was so giant that its head could reach as high as a ship head. The “Great Sea Serpent” was discovered staying offshore Greenland in 1734 by missionary Hans Egede. The sea creature was described as a whale having reptile-like skin, snout. The serpent is illustrated as one of the earliest kinds of sea monsters basing on some credible and reliable source.

In August 1817, there was a 60- to 70-foot-long sea beast moving rapidly through the harbor of Gloucester, Mass. The sea creature was illustrated to have e a turtle-like head attached to a spear or horn and a barrel-like wide body. Shortly after their appearance, the Linnaean Society of New England provided an evidence of a new type of animal called Scoliophis Atlanticus.

Loch Ness Monster, also called Nessie inhabited under the deep water of a lake in Inverness, Scotland. For a long time, Loch Ness Monster has come into legend and been considered to be the most famous of all serpentine beasts in the world. This sea creature was discovered when passing by the road toward the loch in 1933 by a couple driving in the region. Nessie is ever best-known as the queen of the Loch Ness.
