Swine Flu is spreading like an epidemic. It already has taken the lives of many people everywhere in the world. But don’t be afraid. It is high time that you should take certain important steps that can help you to prevent this disease.

Generally Swine Flu is a respiratory disease, which affects our respiratory system caused by H1N1 virus. It is believed that this type of flu is spread by the pigs. But it is not so. This virus is totally a different virus that has changed in many ways that allow it to spread from person to person through air medium. Therefore, if some healthy person comes in contact with a person who is suffering from swine flu can also get this flu. Therefore, it is advisable not to shake hands or hug anyone.

Symptoms –

The most problematic thing is that the symptoms of swine flu are similar to that of a seasonal flu including fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache and fatigue.

But if you are suffering from swine flu, then including the above symptoms you may experience pain in your chest and uncomfortable breathing too.

Therefore, if you are suffering from all these symptoms you must immediately go to a hospital for testing. This disease can only be treated if you start your treatment n the early stages. Many have died because their treatment was started late.

Precautions –

It is always said that “Precaution is better than cure”. It is necessary that we all must take a few precautions, which can ensure our healthy well being.

Maintain hygiene. Wash hands frequently (Very Important)
Avoid contact with persons suffering from cough and cold.
Avoid visiting overcrowded places, and social gatherings like cinema hall.
If anyone is suffering from this flu, then he/she must stay at home and avoid any contact with other family members as far as possible.
Always cover you mouth while sneezing or coughing to prevent the disease from spreading.
What to Eat?

Fresh fruits and vegetables: They provide the body with an ample stock of vitamins and minerals. They also contain natural antioxidants and antibodies that strengthen our immune system. Prefer eating beans, dark-coloured fruits and vegetables like beetroot, spinach and broccoli.

Fish: Fish are a good source of proteins. These allow your body to repair quickly from damages caused by viral attacks.

Citrus fruits: They are rich in Vitamin C and E, which boost our immune system and stimulate the production of antibodies.

Bitter vegetables: They are important for the liver as they help to detoxify the body and boost the metabolism. Bitter gourd is a good option.

America is developing a swine flu vaccine, which probably be available from early September.
