New ABC TV Series Visitors

September 24, 2016

New ABC series “Visitors” ? With all of the new television shows and series premiering every Fall, you might start to wonder if there are any original ideas left to create a story around.  There always seem to be new ideas, or different twists on old ideas, and sometimes, a new set of eyes can make all the difference

The Fall 2009 lineup includes the TV Show V, which is a remake of a miniseries from the 1980’s.  It is set to premiere on ABC on November 3, 2009, and will air four weekly episodes.  After that point, it will be put on hiatus until early Spring 2010.

Science fiction fans are sure to enjoy this smart, stylish program, which has a similar basic premise as its 1980 counterpart.  The futuristic tale begins as giant spaceships appear around the capital cities of the world.  Although these alien “visitors’ profess to come in peace, many earthlings become instantly suspicious, among them, Erica Evans, a Homeland Security Agent.  As agent Evans investigates the motives of these visitors, the aliens are methodically recruiting young humans, including Erica’s son, to do their own investigative work.

Although the “V”isitors are able to win over many of the people on the planet, primarily by their seemingly humanitarian gestures of curing a variety of diseases, there begins to grow a small group of resistors, who, like Erica, do not trust these visitors.  Agent Evan’s hunches prove to be well-founded, as she discovers that the “visitors’ are actually in the final stages of their decades long infiltration of many governments and businesses, the end result of which will enable them to take over the world.

If the new TV series visitors, doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, you should listen to what the critics are saying before you write it off.  Many have stated that the pilot is among the best they have seen in recent memory.  USA Today critic Robert Bianco has numbered the TV Show V among his top ten new shows and stating that this remake is extremely well made.  When an idea is worth remaking, it is usually because there is just something special about it.
